AION 2 Pet Genus Explained: Cogni, Fera, Natura & Varian

Use the category as a filter, not an unsupported ranking.

Quick answers

  • Five groups: Cogni (41), Fera (65), Natura (48), Varian (46), and Special (7).
  • The Genus board (Genus Insight, max level 10) is separate from individual pet levels 1–3.
  • Each ordinary Genus has its own chest, such as Pet Chest: Fera (Bound).
  • A Genus is a category for filtering, not a strength ranking.

Read the category on each entry

Genus helps organise the catalogue into related groups. Combine it with region and source to reduce a large catalogue to a practical shortlist. A missing category means the evidence is incomplete; it does not imply a new or secret category.

Do not infer a build from a name

A category alone does not establish the best choice for your class, encounter or equipment. Any claimed bonus needs a version-specific source. This site avoids numerical bonuses and tier lists that cannot be traced to evidence.

Compare within your constraints

Start with pets whose acquisition conditions you can satisfy. Then check the current in-game effect and any collection requirement before investing resources. Keep source availability separate from preference for a pet’s appearance.

Separate collection levels from the Genus board

The atlas groups ordinary pets into Cogni, Fera, Natura and Varian. Special entries form a separate group. An individual pet’s level and the game’s Genus progression are different records: changing a pet to level 3 in this tracker does not claim that a Genus board is complete. Likewise, an ownership mark for a Special pet does not describe the state of its Genus board. Keep those goals separate when deciding what to work on.

Turn a category into a practical route

Start with the Genus you want to work on, then look for its unfinished pets in regions you can reach. Select one cluster that reduces travel rather than attempting the entire category at once. A large Genus is not automatically a better investment: it simply contains more entries in the catalogue. Use the actual source and your existing inventory to compare two targets, instead of treating the category count as a power score.

Verify effects before spending analysis resources

When your goal is a specific character effect, inspect the current client’s Genus screen and record the effect, unlocked conditions and displayed cost. Do not infer a Global probability or reroll price from a Taiwan or Korean table. This site’s deterministic soul calculator covers ordinary pet levels only; it does not predict random Analysis outcomes. If the effect or cost changes after a patch, revisit the plan before spending more resources.
