AION 2 Mount List: Every Pet Is a Mount – How to Get Them

In AION 2 your mounts are your pets. Unlock a pet with its souls and you can ride it; level it up and you can glide and transform. Here is how to get your first mount and build the collection.

Quick answers

  • Every pet is a mount. Pet Insight level 1 lets you ride it, level 2 adds gliding and level 3 adds transformation. Special pets stop at gliding.
  • A pet unlocks with 5 souls; 25 more reach level 2 and 75 more reach level 3 (105 in total).
  • Your first mount is a free choice of Fossa, Armadon or Tog from an early story quest (Elyos: All Geared Up, Asmodians: Gathering Essentials).
  • Launch rewards add Pagati plus one of Papis, Silver Blade Rotan, Konutin Worker or Black Smoke Murute if you create an account and log in before 1 December 2026, 11:30 PM PT.
  • Shop and premium mounts are cosmetic: NCSOFT says the Founder’s Pack Black Dragon grants no extra stats. Most other mounts come from monster souls; 156 pets are mapped to a named farming area.

Ordinary pets (Cogni, Fera, Natura, Varian) can be ridden, glide and transform as their Pet Insight rises. Special pets ride and glide only.

How mounts work in AION 2

There is no separate mount collection. Each pet you unlock can be ridden, and its Pet Insight level decides what else it can do.

Special pets (shop and event pets such as Pagati) unlock riding and gliding but do not transform. Owned pets also give passive “owned effects” whether or not you ride them; Fera pets, for example, add mount ground move speed. Our leveling guide has a soul calculator.

Your first mount

An early story quest lets you pick one pet as a reward, and completing it opens the Pets menu:

  • Elyos: All Geared Up (Verteron)
  • Asmodians: Gathering Essentials (Altgard)

Both quests offer the same three choices: Fossa, Armadon or Tog. All mounts share the same base speed, so pick the look you like or a pet whose owned effect you want.

Where to farm mount souls

Most mounts come from monster souls. These named areas have the most pets:

  • Immortal Isle (Altgard): 23 pets
  • Eternal Isle (Verteron): 22 pets
  • Purifying Forest (Altgard): 21 pets
  • Ellun River Midstream (Verteron): 19 pets
  • Garden of the Illusion God (Verteron): 19 pets
  • Spirit Isle (Altgard): 16 pets

The pet map lists every area with its pets and the monsters to hunt, and each pet page shows its full source list. Soul drops are recorded in client data; live drop rates are not published.

Are some mounts faster?

No mount we checked is faster than another. NCSOFT states the Black Dragon is appearance-only, and data-mined client values show every mount with the same base run and sprint speed. What does change speed is your collection: Fera pets’ owned effects add mount ground move speed as their Pet Insight rises, and some collection titles add movement speed.

What is still unconfirmed

  • Official total. NCSOFT has not published a mount count. Databases list about 200 regular pets plus a handful of special ones; our atlas tracks 207 entries. Pets added on 14 October may not be in every count yet.
  • Level gap. Some guides report fewer soul drops when your character is far above the monster’s level. We found no confirmed rule.
  • Daeva Pass. Whether the free Daeva Pass track includes a mount is unconfirmed.
  • Owned-effect units. Databases show mount speed bonuses as plain numbers without a unit.

Common questions

Is there a separate mount list in AION 2?

No. Mounts and pets are the same thing. The Pets menu is your mount collection, and the mount list by Genus above links to every group.

What is the fastest mount in AION 2?

There is no fastest mount: all mounts share the same base speed. Premium mounts are cosmetic.

How many souls do I need to ride a pet?

Five. The same 5 souls that unlock the pet let you ride it.
