AION 2 Hidden Cubes: Map, Locations, Keys & Rewards

Hidden Cubes are rare world chests that only open with a key. This page puts the spawn areas, key sources and reward chances for the Global servers in one place.

Quick answers

  • Hidden Cubes spawn at random among 1,440 possible spots in Verteron and 1,371 in Altgard. They are not marked on the map.
  • Cubes are shared by everyone on the server. When someone opens one, a new cube appears at another random spot.
  • Every cube needs one Hidden Cube Key. Without a key the game shows “Cannot open without a key.”
  • Keys come from quests, achievements, the Daeva Pass, daily attendance, monolith upgrades, the Tsenka Merchant (50 Quna, 3 per day) and the A2 Mileage store (2,000 Mileage).
  • Every cube gives 10 Silentium, 5 Soul Codex, 100–200 Power Shards, 1,000 Soul Crystal and a Seed of Detection. Rare rolls include Radiant Love Wings (1%) and the Kurukuru emote (0.1%). No source lists pets in the reward table.

Hidden Cube map: where cubes spawn

Hidden Cubes appear in the two starting regions. Verteron has 1,440 possible spots in 95 spawn groups; Altgard has 1,371 spots in 59 groups. Cubes are rare: a new one appears only when another is opened, so most spots are empty at any moment.

The areas with the most possible spots are below. More spots means a better chance that a cube is nearby. Expand each table for the next ten areas.

Good starting routes. In Verteron, Ellun River Midstream and the ravine west of it past Pamos Farm hold many spots, and most of them are underwater. In Altgard, the stretch from Silent Hill to Tranein Pond, through the Fang Hideout and Temporary Retreat hunting grounds, is reachable early and easy to overlook.

For exact spot markers, use an interactive map such as wikily.gg or allthings.how. We do not copy their coordinates.

Five key items open a cube: Key: Hidden Cube, Key: Hidden Cube (Bound) and three time-limited bound keys that last 7, 10 or 30 days. Use the time-limited keys first so none expire in your bag.

Monolith upgrades unlock through your faction’s main story. The store prices come from guides written after the Global launch; check the in-game store before you spend Quna or Mileage.

Hidden Cube rewards

Each line rolls separately, so one cube can give several of the chance items. Verteron and Altgard cubes share the same table.

These chances come from a community data mine. NCSOFT has not published an official Global drop table.

What is still unconfirmed

  • Respawn timing. No Global source gives a respawn timer. Korean player reports of 30 minutes to 3 hours are not confirmed for Global.
  • Weekly limit. We found no weekly cap on opening cubes. The only limit we found is the Tsenka Merchant’s 3 keys per day.
  • Other regions. One guide mentions cubes in Eltnen and Morheim. No second source confirms this for Global, so we leave those regions out.
  • Pets. No source shows pets or pet souls from Hidden Cubes. To find pets, use the pet sources guide and the pet atlas.

Common questions

Why can’t I find any Hidden Cubes?

There are thousands of possible spots, cubes are rare, and other players may open them first. Check areas with many spots, including underwater ones, and keep a key ready.

Do Hidden Cubes drop pets?

No source we checked lists a pet or pet soul in the reward table. Pets come from monster souls, pet chests and the other sources listed in our pet atlas.

Is “cube” the same as the inventory cube?

No. Players also call the inventory the “cube”, and the Mileage store sells a Cube Expansion Voucher for more bag space. This page covers only the Hidden Cube world chests.
